In honor of May being ALS awareness month Intermountain West Insurance “GAVE BACK” to Daniel Olds to get him to his goal of raising $400. Daniel ran the 2017 Colfax Half Marathon this last weekend in his mother’s honor. His mother, Teri Olds, passed away in 2001 after battling with ALS for two years. Teri was also the aunt of our very own Kylie Wagner. The ALS Association is near and dear to her family’s hearts and we are honored we could help support her cousin as he ran in honor of his mother and raised money for The ALS Association.
ALS is a terminal disease and is commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons go from the brain to the spinal cord and then distributed to muscles throughout the body. ALS causes the motor neurons to deteriorate and the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. Most patients often lose the ability to speak, eat, move and have a difficult time breathing on their own. As of right now there is no known cause for ALS and no cure.
The ALS Association provides much needed patient services resources, funds global – cutting edge research and so much more to help those living with ALS and their families. You can learn more or donate to the cause by clicking the link below.
